Upper Sioux Meth Walk

This week the Upper Sioux had signs posted about their Meth Walk.  This walk is the second walk sponsored by the community.  On June 6th the  stomp out Meth Walk begins.  Many people participated last year in the event.  If your interested in participating in the walk you can arrive at the multipurpose building at the Upper Sioux at 8 am on June 6, 2008.  They will be giving out shirts for people who participate.  A noon lunch will also be served.

My family spent the Saturday evening in the camp ground and listening to the birds.  My husband likes all the fishing in the area.  My cousin George Murphy also Metis was commenting on Camp Release in Montevideo, Minnesota when we took him there with his wife.  George asked me why there wasn't much positive information about the people from this land.  George also stated that he thought it was rude of America not to have signs in government buildings with Native American languages when we have interpreters for many other languages.  I said, I have no idea why the signs do not list Dine' or Dakota language.  George Murphy from Manitoba said "That is a shame.  The US Government should list the languages born in this country.
