Native Vote Washington has prepared a side-by-side comparison of the Democratic and Republican Party Platforms' treatment of Native American issues such as sovereignty, trust responsibility, health care, education, and economic development.
We urge all Natives to read through the relevant parts of each Party's Platform and consider the promises that Senators McCain and Obama are making, along with the Republican and Democratic leadership in Congress. We believe that Platforms are useful when it comes to holding the winning Party's feet to the fire in terms of making good on their promises to Indian Country.
Our comparison uses direct quotes (with page citations) for each of the subject areas. We do not editorialize, but leave it up to each reader to make his or her judgments. The side-by-side comparison may also be downloaded from our website: www.nativevotewa.org
