KYKOTSMOVI, Ariz. – Inauguration ceremonies will be held Jan. 7 at the Hopi Veterans Memorial Center for new tribal Chairman LeRoy N. Shingoitewa and Vice Chairman Herman Honanie.

The event, which begins at 9 a.m. and is scheduled to last until 3 p.m., is open to everyone, and will include food and entertainment. Invitations also have been sent out to dignitaries and state and tribal government officials throughout the state.

About 2,000 guests are expected over the course of the day, and donations of food, beverages, condiments and dinner ware, as well as monetary donations, are being sought from friends, family and local businesses.

Those wishing to donate food should contact Carlene Quotskuyva at 928-734-0700. To contribute money, contact Amelia Onsae at 928-734-3443. Media inquiries for setting up at the Veterans Memorial Center are being handled by Nicole Honanie, executive secretary to the chairman, at 928-734-3102.

Honanie and Maxine Wadsworth, administrative assistant to the vice chairman, who can be reached at 928-734-3112, also can answer any other questions.

Honanie said it was especially important for those who want to bring food to RSVP so planners know what to expect.
