Tohono O'odham Nation Sacred Rites Restriced by Border Fence

Calling it an affront to religious freedom, representatives of an Arizona Indian tribe have asked the federal government to halt construction of a border fence across the tribe's Arizona reservation. 

Seminole Tribe Seizes Mobile Home Park

from the Sun Sentinel:

The Seminole Tribe ended a business dispute with managers of a mobile home park Tuesday by sending in a dozen armed police officers to seize the rental office, kick out employees and announce the place is under new management, tribe and park officials said.

Crews fight to keep fire from Yakamas' commercial timber

from the Yakima Herald:

Crews battling the Cold Springs Fire near Mount Adams will continue carving fire lines today in hopes of keeping the blaze from entering roadless areas of the Yakama reservation. 

Native American magazine coming

from the Rapid City Journal:

A publication that will focus on American Indian arts and lifestyles will be launched Tuesday at Rapid City.

Native Legacy magazine will be a quarterly publication that will feature the arts and culture of those who are native to the Great Plains.
