Champion Chiefs: Wyoming Indian High School Wins State Title

CASPER, Wyo.—Wyoming Indian High School on the Wind River Reservation won the Wyoming class 2-A boys state basketball championship Saturday, beating the Lusk Tigers, 69-61, at the Casper Events Center here. It was the seventh title and the first since 2001 for the Chiefs, who finished the regular season 28-1.

Tetona Dunlap will study photojournalism as a graduate student at the University of Montana in Missoula in fall 2009. Dunlap is Eastern Shoshone from the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming. She graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., with a B.A. in journalism in 2004. A graduate of the Freedom Forum's American Indian Journalism Institute, Dunlap was the first Native American intern at The Washington Post. She worked at the Kansas City Star in Kansas City, Mo., as a photographer/videographer.
