Chris Eyre Discusses 'We Shall Remain'

LAWRENCE, Kan.—Haskell Indian Nations University hosted its 5th annual Stories 'N Motion American Indian Film Festival April 17-18, with a special guest appearance by Native American director Chris Eyre.

In an interview, the award-winning director of "Smoke Signals" talked about his latest project, the PBS series "We Shall Remain," and its in-depth portrayal of historical Native American leaders.

Rhonda LeValdo, Acoma Pueblo, is a graduate journalism student at the University of Kansas and teaches a broadcast class at Haskell Indian Nations University. LeValdo is vice president of the Native American Journalists Association.
