MISSOULA, Mont.--The University of Montana held a "Day of Dialogue" about diversity on and beyond the campus.
The Nov. 8 event was designed for the campus community "to spend a day talking about issues, ideas, how to celebrate progress and where we need to go," said Emily Yaksitch, a University Center program adviser who was on the Day of Dialogue planning committee.
Students designed a "graffiti-esque" mural, so people could "come by and write their thoughts about diversity or a quote or who they think about and add to it," said Gwen Landquist, the University Center marketing coordinator.
The mural "will be a permanent fixture in the building ... just basically a visual reminder that ... (will) hopefully get people to think maybe on a more daily basis about diversity and what they can do to be more of an advocate for it," Landquist said.
