MILWAUKEE (AP) — More than 3,000 people are expected in Milwaukee starting Thursday for the national convention of the National Indian Education Association [1].
The association represents American Indian, Alaskan Native and Native Hawaiian educators and students. It ends Sunday at the Midwest Airlines Center.
The convention will include cultural events focused American Indians in the Great Lakes region. Wisconsin has 11 federally recognized tribes and Milwaukee has about 10,000 of the state's American Indians.
There will be American Indian crafts from the Great Lakes region and lacrosse and moccasin games will be demonstrated.
